2017 has been the son of new gastronomic tendencies: the sushi burrito, the selfieccino, the Taiyaki and the Poke, that Hawaiian dish that has been installed in the menus of countless restaurants that are hardly far away. But who were the first to import this multicolor salad into Madrid? They were Aloha Poke, the first Poke Bar in town.
Carlos, Hugo and Guillermo, formed the three in ADE and Marketing, while they were living in Los Angeles for a while. There, with the cult to the body that is promoted at every corner, it was not surprising that proposals or tendencies based on “healthy fast food” were also carried out. They loved sushi (how do you not?) and in one of these gastronomic excursions in America, they discovered the poke and decided to import it to the central street Libertad.
In just seven months, Aloha Poke has managed to position itself as the standard-bearer of the ‘Healthy life – Happy life’. Each day attracts a multitude of locals, foreigners, and “conformers” who ask for their favorite poke to bring home thanks to their take-out service. The composition of Poke is simple: a base of rice, raw fish cut into dices, a dressing and vegetable to accompany it. But here they go a step further past the traditional way of presenting it. In Aloha, they have six pre-designed bowls and the possibility to create your own with ingredients that you like. You choose a sushi or whole rice base, mixed salad, quinoa or kale, the protein of your choosing between tuna, salmon, prawns, octopus or tofu, sauces (soy, spicy mayonnaise, wasabi aioli…) and finally, the toppings, including avocado, algae wakame, mango, pineapple, fried onion, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, almonds…
They complete their offer with a series of natural detox juices that they prepare in the local every day, iced teas, soft drinks, some snacks like edamame and homemade desserts.
The key to your success? Fast, healthy, rich and cheap cuisine.
