In all groups of friends there is always a cinema buff who knows the latest “must see” indie film, the music enthusiast who studies every night’s concerts and makes you the perfect agenda, and the friend who enjoys cooking for people, who is only content when his guests are. This is the case of Miguel Ventura, who after studying law decided that an apron would make him happier than a toga and took it upon himself to give good food to all of earth’s habitants. He decided to open the Badila, a house of contemporary meals since 2005 , in the heart of Lavapies, with the idea that another price-fixe is possible. Comfort food, prepared with care and imagination and an eagerness to please, Monday through Friday at noon for 13.50 Euros and 16.50 on weekends, with dinner combos on Friday and Saturday for 17.90 Euros. Dishes rarely leave the menu and always triumph. Plates like scrambled eggs with ham, potato salad, scallops, peppers stuffed with brandade of cod with sweetbreads, or watercress salad and smoked chicken are just a few examples of what graces us on the menu. The wines come from small wineries, where the properties of the soil of the vineyards and the their personality outweigh the degree of popularity of their origin. Simple. Imaginative. Honest.
