Barra y mantel is a restaurant in which you can enjoy good quality food. This is food where you can taste as much in the bar that you can on the white-cloth covered tables. The premise of this restaurant was not to make a difference between both local spaces, but for the menu to be enjoyed in its totality as much in the bar as the table.
Iván González is the creator and chef of this restaurant. This chef decided to open his first business in Madrid after his success in Valencia and Ibiza. After years of advising other groups of restaurants in the capital, he decided to launch and create a personal space the local image can reflect the identity of the kitchen. There they decided that the bar and the table cloths have a personality based on classic flavors and elaborate plates with seasonal products, where the diners can enjoy an honest kitchen in which raw, quality material is the protagonist of each plate.
Barra y Mantel will take you back in time while you taste their lifelong plates. This is an offer that is centered around seasonal products that vary depending on the availability of the products on the market.
The menu is traditionally-based and of mediterranean essence. Good meat, fish, rice and stews are a few of the plates that you will find in Barra y Mantel, that is, always having its own personal and respected touch for the perfectly elaborated taste for each plate and product.
In the menu, you will find plates like salmorejo o foie mi cuit, plates perfect for opening your appetite. The puntillitas with spicy ratatouille is a plate that will comfort you. The chuleton meatballs (made with meat that has spent 50 days maturing) is one of the star plates as well as the arroz en lata de mar is a clear example of a chef’s job well done with the rice.
The wine cellar is another one of the reasons to go to Barra y Mantel, now that it counts on more than a thousand Spanish, French and German wine.
Barra y mantel provides hours of the kitchen that are uninterrupted, but during the afternoons the menu is reduced and with choices that are more for snacking than dining. Cheese and meat plates are a few options for little snacks that you will find in this restaurant.
In Barra y Mantel, you will be able to enjoy of these lifelong plates, in a space that is open to you at all hours of the day to sit in the dinner table, the bar, in a tall table or even in the terrace to enjoy a glass of wine and traditional tapas and food.
