Zim and Poppy, an Australian couple that own Caravelle, want to do everything locally and believe that if they can make it themselves, they shouldn’t buy it. As a result, the smoke, marinate, ferment and even bottle their own food and drinks. The concept of local produce is made in their own kitchen and allows the ingredients in their dishes to be very fresh.
A good example of this are their sauces with chili habanero or chipotle, cola sodas, ginger beer or artisanal beers. They hope to open a brewery in a merged space that will be making more of their own beers.
The main dishes that shine are the huevos rancheros, the pulled pork on top of a toasted brioche and the roasted chicken that is marinated for 24 hours in water, salt, sugar, lemon and garlic, which is so crispy on the outside and juicy inside. You shouldn’t forget to order the “coco bread” with berries and ice cream.
Also, their evening menu has incredible tacos that are unbeatable in Barcelona. But, their strongest feature is definitely the coffee that is made from the best coffeemakers in the market a “La Marzocco”.
