Casa Xica is a small and intimate restaurant in Poble Sec with an exotic menu that will take you on a journey through Asia.
Raquel Blasco, Marc Santamaria and Esteban Puertas, friends and business partners, got the idea to open a restaurant during a trip to Malaysia: “the way they cook there, the spices, the blending of flavours, the stalls serving street food…it was very inspiring, and everything we tried was delicious. We knew when we returned we wanted to open our own restaurant,” Raquel explains.
That’s why you’ll find dishes like duck confit gyoza, smoked eel nigiri, cauliflower couscous, mussels with coconut broth and cilantro, fresh fish of the day with red curry, fried Malaysian rice, vermicelli salad with salmon sashimi or Iberian pork with oyster sauce throughout their menu.
“We try to make Oriental food with quality local ingredients, and we like that the residents of our neighbourhood are curious and will try new things. We love to experiment in the kitchen and we change the menu as we come up with new recipes,” Marc and Raquel tell us.
Get advice from Esteban, who describes the dishes and wines with such joy and enthusiasm that you’ll want to order everything. They have a selection of organic wines that are highly recommended.
