Found in building 23 (no surprise there), Cera 23 has Galician roots and its founders are three friends embarking on a new adventure. Carlos, Guillermo and Rúben were involved in several restaurants both at home and abroad until they decided it was time to have their own.
After losing themselves in different corners of the world, they finally stumbled upon Barcelona where the weather, food and people convinced them to stay and open their own restaurant.
Rúben and his brother Miguel (a recent addition and crucial member of the team) roam through the restaurant as if it were their own kitchen and living room. And that’s what you get – a feeling as if you’re eating in the comfort of your own home.
From your table you can watch the chefs, Fidel and Boris, preparing the dishes you’re about to taste. “We like working with quality ingredients from Galicia as well as here. But we distinguish our typical Galician food by incorporating ingredients and techniques from other foreign cuisine,” notes Rúben.
The menu is short but it’s impossible to choose just one dish. The creativity and quality stands out at Cera 23, found in Raval. If you’re a fan of tomatoes, start with the tomato tartare with asian seaweed and miso and wasabi mayonnaise. The noodles with prawns and mushrooms are a true delight and the volcano of black rice with seafood and saffron oil will remain forever etched in your memory. The beef comes directly from the north and the sesame tuna, served with cinnamon mashed sweet potato, was swimming in the Mediterranean Sea just hours ago.
If you like cocktails, you’re in luck. They’re one of the specialties and can be enjoyed in the entrance bar.
Not to be missed by anyone who wants to encounter a piece of Galicia on their plate, in a familiar corner where they can pamper their palate.
