“Chigre” – this is what the Asturians popularly call the premises where they sell and drink cider. This is the word purposely chosen to give life to their restaurant, and to bring Asturias to the center of Madrid.
The place is divided into two zones. The bar and the dining room. Two different areas, one more formal and the other more informal, but with one common thread: a menu based on traditional cuisine. The space is decorated with an elegant style that makes the place cozy. High tables and wood in the bar area, and low tables in the dining room. In both parts, they have a very similar menu, although their plating is somewhat different.
The kitchen can be defined by one word: tradition . In Chigre, they want to fill diners stomachs with traditional dishes where flavor takes precedent. This restaurant tries to reflect a typical Asturian food house.
In your menu you will find several dishes that reference the north, among which traditional stews stand out. Dishes such as the Asturian fabada, the very sweet tripe, the morros or the bogavante sea-food rice. Dishes where the quality product is fundamental.
At Chigre you can taste other delicacies such as scorpion fish pie, ham croquettes and chicken broth, or eggs at low temperature with potatoes and Iberian ham.
The dessert is also one of the most anticipated moments in Chigre, where you will find temptations such as the creamy cheese cake or the torrija brioche. But among its options highlights the Asturian cream of rice with milk, a dish that follows the Asturian recipe, and is presented with the burnt touch instead of the cinnamon to which we are more accustomed.
To accompany all these dishes, in Chigre they have an extensive wine list where you will find different Denominations of Origin. And of course, they also have cider, a neccessary drink in this Asturian soul restaurant, and one that perfectly accompanies any dish.
Chigre is a cozy restaurant where the dishes allow you to enjoy the cuisine of a lifetime. A place “hidden” in the middle of Serrano street, that also has a semi-covered terrace that can be converted into a reserved space.
