Seven years ago, brothers Javier, Ricardo and Ignacio Rodríguez Llinares decided to open a restaurant based on the traditional cuisine and cultural activity. They set up shop in a small bohemian neighborhood, specifically on San Luis street.
A little bit north of the old city centre of Sevilla, it was not until a couple years ago that tourists descended on the quiet neighborhood, making the Rodríguez brothers pioneers of sorts when they decided to take a bet on the area.
Since it’s opening, Contenedor has maintained high excellence in both cuisine and service. A hallmark of Contenedor is their attention to artistic detail. Every Tuesday, live jazz music fills the restaurant, adding to the warm retro ambiance. The menu here changes with the season, the market and the inspiration of chef Carlos Mitchell. However, a couple classics remain on the menu year round.
The black rice and squid, the sublime point rice and soft garlic sauce, and duck with mushroom rice are examples of these fan favorites. Iberian cold meats and cheeses are also fixed on the menu. On our last visit, we were particularly impressed with the Sanlúcar prawn Carpaccio and the homemade tagliatelle with ragu of wild boar and roasted garlic sauce.
This cozy local joint can accommodate up to 45 guests, so it is best to call ahead for a reservation.
