The Santa Caterina Market began in 1845, serving as the first covered market in Barcelona. In 2005, architect Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue transformed the old market into a modern space. Inside sits Las Cuines de Santa Caterina.
The menu has a Mediterranean and oriental feel with several healthy vegetarian alternatives on the grill for those with allergies. However, no matter what you prefer, it’s impossible not to like the menu of the day here. Fresh ingredients are the only products used in creating these delicious dishes.
To begin, take a bit of provolone cheese with roasted tomato confit and pesto. If you’re looking for something to warm you up, try a bowl of miso soup with clam. There are several options for the second plate, including rice, fresh fish with romesco and clams and several others.
No matter what you choose, you can rest assure that each dish has been prepared with careful thought and only the best ingredients.
