Ruzafa is the Valencian neighborhood of fashion that has broad and varied choices of gastronomy and above all, a unique environment. Sharing their space with the Mercado de Ruzafa and the Parroquia de San Valero, you find Doña Petrona, a local fresh and dynamic restaurant where the doors are always open and the kitchen is always in motion.
Doña Petrona is defined as a gastronomical space where Spain and Argentina live in harmony, where both co-live and dance, but without being intermixed.
Germán Carrizo and Carolina Lourenço grouped as Tándem Gastronomy, they are the heads of the establishment. After Fierro consolidated, soon after came the birth of Doña Petrona, a demonstration of love for the Spanish cuisine and of their beloved Mendoza and Córdoba. But this was also a way to thank the neighborhood and its people.
This restaurant is carefree and alternative, where the plates are made from origins and simplicity; made to remind you of home and your grandparents’ homemade traditional cooking. This is where you can taste delicious and healthy food elaborated from quality raw materials.
The menu, simple and full of flavor, makes it difficult to choose what you want. You cannot leave without trying the empanadas with secret ibérico, mendocina, vegeatables and jam and queso. Along with these plates are also mediterranean plates of which include.a favorite- tataki with tuna and pisto. For the carnivores, there are two amazing options: pan de cristal con molleja, tender garlic, and chimichurri, replicating the Argentinian steak; as well as milanesa Neapolitan style with French fries. To finish your meal is the dessert like the homemade profiteroles with hot chocolate. An authentic explosion of flavor for our sweet-toothed customers! You cannot miss out on traditional alfajores, the sweetest delicacy made in home.
Doña Petrona is much more than somewhere to eat; it is an open space for all open at any time of the day. You can begin your day with a good breakfast of warm artisanal bread, a midday snack with friends or eat gloriously tasting tapas after work.
Conversing with German and Carito evokes an amazing high that is contagious. This couple cannot hide their passion for the kitchen, for reinventing each day and their hurry to demonstrate the effort they put into their restaurant as well as a job well done. This house of food is where locals of the neighborhood and tourists share a table and tablecloth to join in on eating delicious cuisine.
