Market cuisine with local products. This is how El Nido defines itself, the restaurant located at Hotel 1898 in Las Ramblas. A restaurant that offer Mediterranean gastronomic cuisine with Asian, Moroccan and Mexican details that will not leave you indifferent. Try their steak tartar, or the corvina and shrimp ceviche, as fish is one of their specialties.
To discover what is going on in the restaurant, first dig into the history of the hotel. The building was formerly occupied by the General Company of Tobacco from the Philippines, hence its colonial style with a personality that incites mystery. El Nido takes its name from the main municipality of the island of Palawan, in the Philippines, a paradise of beaches and crystalline waters that continues with the thread of the tobacco industry in the Philippines. Thus, the restaurant becomes an authentic oasis of peace that contrasts the busy streets of Barcelona.
The chef Carles Boronat feels pure love for gastronomy, a deep respect for the product and care for the quality of raw materials, especially fish. He has an unconditional love for the sea, which he got from his father. Thus, the sea is present in the menu of El Nido with dishes such as tuna tacos, mushrooms stuffed with lobster, ceviche corvina and prawn, or rice in the llauna with red shrimp and cockles. The starters are changing every day, and you can find appetizers such as battered prawns accompanied by tamarind sauce.
And to finish with a sweet palette, you can enjoy their homemade desserts, including chocolate bread and the delicious Apple Strudel accompanied with a scoop of ice cream.
For those days when we get up and tour Barcelona and visit the historic center, stop to gather strength at El Nido restaurant, where you will enjoy Mediterranean cuisine.
