Few look at death so closely and can boast about it as El Santet ; this small tavern full of history raises the curtain every day in front of the Cemetery of Poblenou. A tapas bar, sandwiches and dishes where each slice is able to indoctrinate even the most impious.
Legend has it that the venerated Santet had miraculous and supernatural faculties; character that gives name to this small cafe of Poblenou. El Santet lies inside the cemetery of this industrial district; a place that rather serves as the altar and the lap of the most blessed who head to the interior of this peculiar cemetery to sing their prayers.
A popular veneration shared with this bar located a few steps from the said grave. The Santet, a rogue and daring place where the kitchen is the same as three years ago; a simple, vermuter and an offer of fun. That’s what David wanted, owner and charisma of El Santet ; and on those beliefs the foundations of what is now Poblenou’s local par excellence were created.
A neglected decoration replete with antiques and trinkets that make up a vintage look with recycled aesthetics. A hybrid between warehouse and housing converted into a tapas bar whose result is a compressed bar from which gastronomic wonders come out.
Our particular procession begins with a Bogatell , combined with cockles, olives and chips perfect to accompany your vermouth from Reus. And there is no vermouth without a couple of Gildas and a dish of Russian salad to accompany. That is how the sacred Sundays begin at El Santet.
Another classic that you can not miss is the Poblenou pump with homemade hot sauce. Addicted to each plate of his letter in which we continue walking and devouring a little dish. The following, mark of the house, its starry eggs with shoulder of Iberian ham. Small eggs!
And the culmination comes with its sandwich of salmon, brie, tomato and mayonnaise . A true pilgrimage through this gastronomic sanctuary that clings to a traditional cuisine where the product acts as the main protagonist in this Barcelona thriller.
The real gastronomic miracle of Poblenou is called El Santet, a tapas bar and hot sandwiches where you can enjoy one of the best terraces in Barcelona. Of course, do not forget the timely reverence and offering to the Santet. Perfect for those Sundays in the sun!
