In the years before refrigerators, El Sortidor kept the citizens of Poble Sec refreshed by serving the best anchovies and vermut around. Though technology certainly progressed since then, the quality of the food has remained the same. Even the décor at El Sortidor has kept a classic old-world feel.
With art nouveau inspired stained glass, old chandeliers and sixties mirrors, it is easy to take a trip to the past and forget the problems of the 21st century. The menu boasts several diverse dishes that are sure to satisfy your tastebuds. We recommend the “Seitotxo” which includes anchovies, a pot of beans with sausage and caramelized onions. Keeping with the marine trend, the octopus with mashed potatoes, the cod with honey and the meatballs with cuttlefish are all delicious options.
Not feeling a trip under the sea? The duck breast with quince is a savory alternative that will surely leave you satisfied. Whatever you may be in the mood for, you can find it at El Sortidor.
As owner Filomena says, “ Come whenever you need food. You will be warmly welcomed and will always find something to eat”.
