The pizzeria Emma is a good choice to eat at the center of Rome at a reasonable price any day of the week, including Sundays. Located in the historic center, this pizzeria that opened in 214 is one of the best to try one of the glorious Roman-style pizzas, which are pizzas with a very fine base. In addition, the menu includes many vegetarian and vegan options.
The founders, the Roscino, have the know-how of Pier Luigi Roscioli, who is responsible for the recipe of the dough. This career baker, who belongs to the bakery dynasty of the Roscioli, is the head of the institution that is the Antico Forno Roscioli. The pizzas at Emma’s Pizzeria have a fine Roman-style base and are crisp and delicate. Made from exclusively organic flours, you can eat a whole one sitting without a remaining feeling of indigestion.
The starters include fried pumpkin blossom or tempura vegetables as well as Roscioli bread with olive oil and garlic, while the pizza menu is divided into traditional, red and white. In the traditional, we find options like the Margarita, the Four Seasons or the Marinara. The reds are dominated by pizzas with mozzarella and different ingredients, from tomatoes to mushrooms or ham. Finally, the white options include vegetarian pizza, with vegetables from the wood-fired oven or the pizza topped with zucchini blossoms. The special options include Napoli and Cantabrian pizza, which has Neapolitan tomatoes, Cantabrian anchovies and Tuscan oil or the Black Paw and Bufala, that has black pata ham, mozzarella Bufala, tomato and basil.
In addition to delicious pizzas, the menu includes half a dozen focaccias, bruschettas and a selection of cheeses and deli meats from the country including Búfala and burrata. They also have a menu of classic Roman starters like puntarelle, artichoke salad and of course, handmade pasta. Its drink menu includes wines from virtually all of Italy’s wine regions as well as classic European wines such as Rieslings or Chablis. They also have champagne and organic French wines.
Desserts include artisan ice cream and tiramisu. The room is spacious and very bright, with air conditioning and modern decor. They also have a nice terrace at the front where you can eat year round.
