Mathilde and Benjamin, siblings originally from Paris, opened En Aparté without ever having worked in the hospitality business. Their confidence, enthusiasm and commitment brought a small part of France to the neighbourhood of Sant Pere in Barcelona.
This family project recently turned four years old, and has changed a lot since its opening. Initially they offered a fixed menu with dishes served throughout the day: cheese boards, sausages, foie gras salads or toast that fused distinct flavours of France. As their team and experience grew, the food menu grew as well, offering a menu of the day and weekend brunches.
Although the menu has evolved, the goal has remained the same – to make French cuisine available to everyone. Here you find quality food made with French ingredients at a price that works for any budget.
The space overlooks one of the oldest plazas in the city, and is large and warm with comfortable couches from which you can savour your “pain perdu,” chocolate chip bread or whatever cake the chef has whipped up that day.
In addition to indulging in a meal and dessert (recommendations include the quiche of the day, the banana chocolate crumble and the crème brûlée) make sure you try something from their list of French wines for a truly authentic experience.
