Grupo Tragaluz has done it again. Fan Ho, its new gastronomic space, is already the talk of the town. A culinary proposal based on oriental cuisine with Japanese and Chinese touches. He already succeeded with Red and Black; And now Tapas Tomate and Fan Ho are born, gastronomic sites located in the heart of Barcelona.
Fan Ho, an oriental tavern where you can enjoy a careful modern cuisine based on quality Asian products. As is the common philosophy of this family hotel, its new restaurant perfectly blends high gastronomy with impeccable and delicate design where every detail matters to achieve a relaxed and casual atmosphere.
The name is a tribute to the famous Chinese photographer who died just over a year ago. With more than 280 awards, his photographs are an icon for the art world and here you can find a wide selection of his collection on the walls of this oriental tavern.
Marcelino Giménez, the Executive Chef of up to 7 restaurants within the company, takes us by the hand through a culinary journey. First he shows us a selection of three types of Dim Sum: fried, grilled and steamed. Grilled stuffed with veal with bamboo, a little pepper and a touch of Chinese barbecue Char Siu. Fried with pork and peanut. And, the steamed ones, stuffed with prawns and mushrooms with Judas’s ear, wood ear, water chestnuts and red prawn; And all with a peanut sauce.
Our journey through this oriental tavern begins where Chef Sufen Shi works between stoves in an open steam and iron kitchen. A menu with a delicate selection of dim sums, wok elaborations, meats and fish.
Then we are pleased with a Japanese dish. A delicate and tasty tiger shrimp tempura accompanied with a Japanese sauce based on a nice dry broth, Soy, Mirim and Sake. Accompanied with a salad of crispy duck, pine nuts and an orange and grapefruit vinaigrette. An ideal dish to share with which Marcellin brings us some wafers wheat wafers on which to make our own rollitos.
Continuing with their main course selection, we opted for their chow mien of vegetables and chicken with oyster sauce. And one of the jewels of the house, its black cod caramelized with honey in two coctions on sweet and sour aubergines. A black cod previously macerated in soy, Mirim, Sake and honey that melts in the mouth. And to finish this gastronomic trip we tried the delicious Mocha of Matcha tea.
Fan Ho is a set of carefully designed pieces that fit perfectly to convey, simultaneously, a sense of belonging and relaxation in traditional Asian culture. An oriental tavern where time slows its constant flow to enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
