Leaving the Barcelona comfort zone isn’t always easy, but it will always have its reward. In Arenys de Mar we find an authentic Argentinian gastronomic jewel that honors it’s traditions from the name, remembering the poem Martin Fierro. Fierro is a restaurant in front of the ocean that breathes kindness and warmth; the warmth comes from Mariela’s attention, the hostess, as well as the grill in which Juan Grimaldi makes his greatest creations of meat, vegetables and fish.
With only one glance at the menu, we see that Juan’s passion for the kitchen comes from afar. Along with his passion, Fierro’s chef has gastronomy in his blood. Juan is part of a trio of brothers Grimaldi, like Joaquín, pastry chef in the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires and Valentín (also known as Cook Grimaldi), author of Rock en la Cocina.
The Argentinian influence is made evident with the lively decoration, the environment, the plates and the way they prepare to show homage to the Gaucha culture. Those who haven’t had the opportunity to visit Argentina can experience it’s tradition, music, and above all, it’s flavors in this restaurant.
Our recommendation is to start a gastronomic trip with ease. It is known that meat needs its time and at Fierro, they have respect for the fire, the grill, and the meat cooking. For that reason, we recommend nearing yourself to a bar and waiting with a glass of wine and a trio of empanadas soufflé as an appetizer.
Once it is time to bring the food to the table, an excellent option to enhance your carnivoric preferences is the ribs with ratatouille, caper sauce, olives, and dry tomato. A plate that is so delicious that it conserves all the flavor as well as an exquisite aroma.
The Argentinians aren’t only experts in meat but also desserts; Fierro’s dessert menu is a magnet to anyone with a sweet tooth. We recommend a delicacy that you cannot resist, the Alfajor Santafesino: three layers of crunchy cookies stuffed with caramel and bathed in a sweet sugared-glaze. Delicious!
After a successful lunch, it is time for a good dessert. Fierro is the perfect place not only for people that conform to eat but for those who want to eat well.
