Frizzante, the restaurant you’ll find at Hackney City Farm, is the perfect place to have brunch, and is family friendly for those with small kids visiting the farm animals.
The menu is simple, with seasonal products mostly coming from nearby farms. The chef behind Frizzante, Eddy Ambrosi, always keeps the SlowFood movement in mind, and hasn’t stopped with his innovative ideas since he took over 12 years ago.
The Canadian brunch is the most popular item on the menu, which includes bacon, scrambled eggs, banana bread and maple syrup. A lighter option is the mozzarella salad – its ingredients include fresh tomatoes, olives, balsamic vinegar and asparagus. Pastas are another highlight of the menu – fresh and handmade onsite, they can be enjoyed with pesto or bolognese sauce.
The homemade desserts have a faithful audience and are best accompanied by a well made coffee. The fact that no one rushes you and that you can make reservations add to the appeal of this place.
Thursday nights the space transforms into a restaurant reminiscent of an Italian farmhouse, with live music and a menu that changes but always includes meat, fish and a vegetarian option.
The garden terrace is perfect for enjoying a coffee or having a meal and is open all day. Its rustic design, relaxed atmosphere and dozens of colourful plants make it an oasis in the middle of the city.
