For the inhabitants of the big cities, like Barcelona, we sometimes forget that the most touristic neighborhoods are still neighborhoods. To remind us, Funky Bakers is located in a small corner of El Borne, with a bakery focused on excellent quality. It is a great place for residents of that neighborhood to find exactly what they need. Bread of pagés, bread with egg or milk, you name it. And the flauta! Why is it so hard to find flauta outside of restaurants? Here they have decided to change that, you can buy it in a sandwich, but you can also take some home.
Funky Bakers is prepared early in the morning with a wide variety of products for all who want to start the day early. You can choose from Granola or Chia Cups for busy office workers who do not want to go without a full breakfast, but also want to be healthy. Or pack a picnic with their food, and enjoy lunch in the park or on the beach. In this bakery they have been able to take advantage of its small space, but whatever you cannot eat there, you can take it away in one of the picnic boxes they sell.
There is always a story behind every good business, like that of Seyma, owner of Funky Bakers, who came to Barcelona from Istanbul with the intention of starting his first business here. This is how Pinhan café was born, a Turkish-inspired gastronomic oasis in the center of Turó Park.
But what makes Funky Bakery unique is not just the story of one person, but that of a very diverse team that brings out the best in themselves and their culture. Here, we can find products that are difficult to find elsewhere in Barcelona, such as smorrebroads, english muffins and sausage rolls . Artists, confectioners, bakers and chefs from Eastern Europe, Turkey, Australia and the United Kingdom come together to make this project truly Funky.
