Michelada, tequila, tacos, quesadillas … with this menu no one would doubt that it is in a Mexican restaurant, but once inside, its decoration will finish confirming it. Gracias Padre is an authentic Mexican who seeks to bring the spirit of the beaches of Tulum to the center of Madrid.
Behind this small Mexican stronghold are José Agudo and Diego Buenestado, two Madrilenas who love traveling and especially like the Mexican culture. Gracias Padre is a place designed to the smallest detail. The premises took time to find it, because they wanted it to be a house in the purest Mexican style. They also wanted their food to know Mexico, so they brought an experienced Mexican cook. Once they found the place, they did not hesitate to go 3 months to visit Tulum to find the recipes and flavors they were looking for in their restaurant. The decoration, with more New York air, they had so clear that they did not need advice, since as they say, “It came out of the soul, we had clear every detail of the restaurant.”
In Gracias Padre even the name has a reason for being. On the one hand, a way of being grateful to be able to dedicate oneself and live of what they like; on the other hand, to thank the church, who owns the perfect place to open a Mexican taqueria.
In the menu you will find appetizers, quesadillas, tacos and desserts. But undoubtedly, as indicated in the awning of the entrance, in this restaurant pay special attention to the tacos. In Gracias Padre you will find up to 10 different varieties. Tacos as delicious as barbecued beef cheek to the pot, a taco full of flavor because the meat is roasted in banana leaf for more than 4 hours, getting an incredible texture; or the taco de crispy fish, macerated in tequila and which makes even the detractors of fish fall in love.
To accompany the tacos there is nothing better than the drinks they offer. Cocktails, beer or margaritas are some of the perfect options with which to pair your food. To these drinks will soon be added one more. Since José and Diego are working on distilling their own tequila.
Gracias Padre is an ideal restaurant to enjoy your food and drinks, disconnect from Madrid and travel to the other side of the Atlantic. A taqueria where to meet for a casual meal and not suitable for those who do not tolerate spicy, because as in Mexico, your food has that spicy touch so characteristic of the country of catrinas.
