What began as a tiny bar with an iron grill has since tripled in size and now, along with Pinotxo and Quim de la Boqueria, El Kiosko Universal is one of the most popular spots among people looking to have breakfast or lunch in this huge market next to Las Ramblas.
All their supplies is provided by stalls surrounding them because, as Alfonso Domínguez – the boss– explains: “We have to support each other.”
One of the most popular dishes is the sauteed mushrooms flavoured with green sauce. Pair them with a fresh fish, an entrecote, or – if you’re in a group – a selection of sauteed vegetables, shrimp or clams. Everything is fresh and bought that day.
