This mythical bar with delights from the sea has four different locations in Madrid. Yes, this is a touristy site, but don’t let that steer you away from mingling with the foreigners, enjoying this great food.
“How do we keep our customers walking through the door and give them something original?” wondered Patricio Ruíz, the owner of the time, four generations ago. Then the answer came to him: shrimp. They began to cook the shrimp on the grill, then added garlic and oil, and the rest is history.
The name of this restaurant comes from their famous and particular sweet wine called “El Abuelo” (The Grandfather). To specialize in only one product and to exploit it to the maximum is his secret, and year after year he has been adding history to the wall.
