In Taguara, they are experts in arepas: a typical meal from South and Central America, made with corn flour, as if it were a sandwich, with whatever ingredients you desire. Here, they are filled with typical products from Venezuela, like shredded beef, black beans or baked pork. In reality, this very versatile food can be eaten at any time of the day with a variety of fillings.
Asier Navascues and his partner Daniel Legórburr, opened this arepería in 2010, being one of the first in Barcelona. The name, Taguara, comes from the South American nickname given to a “one for all” shop and this is essentially what Asier wanted to recreate; a place where people could come to eat, drink, chat, and share experiences in pleasant company.
A very typical Venezuelan dish is the Pabellón, a dish made with shredded beef, plantain, black beans and cheese (accompanied by rice almost always). Also, Arepa is one of their star dishes that can be filled with a mixture of chicken stew and avocado. In addition, they offer Cachapas and tequeños. All of these can be accompanied with tropical juices that are made fresh daily.
And for dessert there are several recommended options such as the three milk, golfeados, and coconut conservitas.
If you pass by the Born District, don’t hesitate to enter the Taguara and try this delicious Venezuelan food or, if you don’t have time to sit at the restaurant, you’re in luck because they also have the to-go option.
