Macera Taller Bar

For several years, we were singing prayers to the all-powerful Dionysus, asking him to bring us Macera Taller Bar in Barcelona, and finally he blessed us with a new location in the genuine neighborhood of El Raval. Within the fashionable city walls of Barcelona, where booze is a philosophy of life, Macera Taller Bar opened their second shop a few months ago, after tremendous success in Madrid.

An excess of euphoria for handmade drinks is bound to a modern, transparent space with a relaxed atmosphere and a first-rate soundtrack; where you can enjoy a good glass with friends. And this is Macera, a bar that escapes conceptualization and tries to break away from the hegemony of the big brands. Every day at this workshop, they infuse liters and liters of alcohol themselves, and a unique label predominates: that of Macera.

A bar without signs, where by default their walls are filled with big bottles with handmade labels that are reminiscent of the apothecary of Merlin himself. And there’s nothing new to this Iberian method of infusion — our grandparents and yours set up grape liqueur with herbs and homemade sloe brandy. This is what Macera does, employing all these aromas, essences, and natural colors that fruit gives us to achieve unique and different mixes, to the consumer’s taste.

Upon entering, one loses themselves amid so many concoctions, and for this we accept the recommendation of Laura and Miguel, the two master mixologists who surprise us with two gin tonics. Mi Citronero, with a base of lemon-lime, and a gin with a base of strawberries; sweet and fresh. Another round, please! This time, we ask for their splendid Ron Pedro, a macerated rum with hints of Pedro Ximénez wine. An authentic marvel.

Although they avoid terminology, you also can drink a good cocktail based on macerations like the house Picante prepared with gin of cilantro, jalapeño and lime. Don’t doubt — ask for it! Or, their Pantera Rosa, with a base of gin infused with blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry; contrasted with lemon juice and egg white.

If you’re passionate about drinking, a connoisseur of gin, or an expert “cubatero,” you can sign up for one of their many workshops make them right here and learn to infuse your own liqueurs. Infusions, natural juices, workshops, and something to snack on with a selection of pastries and homemade sandwiches for a night of glasses at Macera Taller Bar. And if you’re passing by on a weekend, you can have a good time with local DJs.

An artisanal concept that’ll get your hopes up, with reasonable prices (all glasses start at 7€ — be careful how much you drink!) and their own preparations that have won over the hearts of two cities as large as Barcelona and Madrid. More Macera in El Raval. Authenticity, craftsmanship, and a lot of flavor in the most trendy bar in Barcelona.
