At Mama’s Café you can enjoy breakfast all day long, prepared as if the kitchen were an extension of Christina Czerniawski’s home. Christina’s been cooking since she was a kid in Chicago and was heavily influenced by her mom (from Florida) and dad (from Brooklyn). But it wasn’t until she had her own children and began cooking for them that she realized the importance of food and nutrition: “When I bought the space to open Mama’s Café, I wanted to serve home cooking. What I prepare for my children, I prepare for my customers,” says Christina. And without a doubt, you’re sure to enjoy it as if you were a small child.
Pancakes with caramelized fruit and cinnamon (or with hot chocolate sauce and whipped cream), scrambled eggs with meat and spinach, incredible sandwiches like the roast beef with gruyere and mushrooms. You can have all this for breakfast or whenever you want, because the kitchen stays open all day long.
It’s important to Christina that everything is organic and handmade: “I like to cook with ingredients that are prepared in a sustainable way. They’re environmentally responsible, not to mention the better taste and quality you get.”
There’s also a menu for vegetarians. The sandwich with tofu, avocado, red peppers, manchego cheese and aioli is amazing, as well the one made with taleggio cheese, sautéed spinach and spicy tomato jam.
There’s always two options for the daily special, one for carnivores and the other for vegetarians. There’s also a soup to warm you up. Come to Mama’s Café in Gracia and let Christina take care of you.
