Who would dare start a business in another country with only 15€ in their pocket? As crazy as it sounds, that is how Milla brought her project to life.

At the young age of 25, Milla left her London life behind to move to Barcelona with one clear objective: make her passion her job. “What was her passion?” you might ask; her passion is cooking. After some time living in el Raval and working in different restaurants, she noticed that healthy gastronomy at an accessible price was scarce. With the necessity for such a place and Milla’s vision, she made her dream a reality.

Rent is incredibly expensive, making it inaccessible for her budget; nonetheless, that was not an impediment for Milla. “If I couldn’t bring customers to me, I needed to go to them,” Milla said. All she needed then was a bicycle, Tupperware, fresh vegetables and her own motivation to make her plant-based food delivery business possible in the city of Barcelona.

“Give to receive” was one of Milla’s motives to be successful with her business. One morning Milla decided to use those extra 15€ to elaborate and pack her best menus to deliver with her phone number attached. Who could say no to “do you want a free lunch?”

After putting so much passion, love and flavor into her menus, all that was left to do was wait for the word of mouth to work its magic. Very soon it all paid off! In a short period of time, many artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses became interested in what she was doing. These connections helped her create a network of customers and friends around Milla’s Lunch, which keeps growing day by day.

In only one year, Milla went from distributing 35 menus to distributing 135 menus, from cooking in her house’s kitchen to moving to a co-kitchen, from cooking and distributing alone to employing others to deliver and help. Continuity is evident with her delicious, varied, and economically accessible plant-based meals that she has provided since the start of her business.

The Milla’s lunch experience is a complete meal for only 6 euros, free of meat and animal products, and of course, a motivated team that is as committed to their customers as they are the food.
