Monster Sushi, The Japanese Tradition in Barcelona

A couple decided eight years ago to undertake a gastronomic project dedicated to Japanese cuisine, and that decision is manifested in Monster Sushi. Fabiola and Ricardo arrived in Barcelona from Caracas, determined to create a space where they could cook and cater to everyone who came, as if they were family.

Fabiola, two years after opening the restaurant, decided to embark on a new path and immerse herself in Japanese cuisine, and that’s when she traveled to Los Angeles to study at a Sushi Chef school, taking her to internships in Japan and finally landed her the National Certificate of Sushi Chef in 2013.

She practices the philosophy of Japanese cuisine which focuses completely on quality products as well as friendly and helpful service, as well as on the balance of flavors and textures in the dishes of the menu.

A restaurant that has grown over the years has now answered the demands of customers: it has opened a second place dedicated to Take Away, and that is the Monster Sushi Delivery.

With a menu that they have maintained and perfected for eight years, and a variety of dishes all rooted in Japanese cuisine – the dishes can be shared or eaten individually. To begin, we enjoyed the tataki tuna coated in sesame, a dish with a lot of balance in flavors and temperature, definitely something to ask for.

Among the variety of rolls there are tempura, cold and warm, the Anticucho, shrimp tempura, avocado and coated butterfish – a roll with a little Latin fusion in its anticucho sauce. And to stick with game dishes temperature the Redondo Beach, a roll of tempura salmon with fresh salmon tartar on top. Ask for a special off the menu like the niguiri of tuna and foie gras.

And we highly recommend that you always leave space for some of the desserts, made by Fabiola from recipes compiled from the family and continuing with the homemade philosophy. Try the chocolate cake, made with Caribbean chocolates from Cuba and Ecuador, or the Cheesecake with red fruit sauce. And for those who want more than one piece, they also sell the complete cakes.

Homemade and made with the best possible products, this is the philosophy that Fabiola and Ricardo make focused on in Monster Sushi. A philosophy to which they are fully rooted and manage to transmit it in each element of Monster Sushi. They have created a team that takes care of even the smallest detail to create an exceptional experience for each visit.
