Ivan Castro, a restorer by trade, set up this restaurant in the Eixample. Even though with the layout it comes across as a bar, it is a showcase for their own ecological products including: vegetables, lamb, chicken and amazing cheeses. “We all wanted to open up a small restaurant in Barcelona showcasing our own products” . From that idea is where the name Mont bar was created, paying homage to the village where he was born, a return to his origins. The wine list alone contains over 250 selections at more than affordable prices. “We want the people to be able to drink wine. So we also offer wine by the glass every day”. The wine by the glass options consist of 4 reds, 2 whites, one rose, cava and champagne. Everything there is fresh and very well taken care of. From the coffee to the bread, everything made by them. In Mont Bar you can go anytime for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack or a vermouth. The best part: it is open every day. For around 5 euros per plate, you get near Michelin-star quality. We recommend: ventresca de atun marinada (tuna filet), cococcha de Bacalao con judias de Sant Pau (cod with white beans), ragu de chipirones (calamari ragout), vieiras con Ravioli de langostino (scallops with lobster ravioli) and tempura are some of the best they have to offer.
