The specialty café is becoming more and more commonplace in Barcelona. Onna Coffee, gets its name from the Japanese word for woman, Onna, and behind this beautiful name for a coffee shop is Anahí Paéz. Originally from Costa Rica, she wanted to continue her roots and bring them to the city in coffee format.
Onna Coffee originated in the Poblenou neighborhood, in March of 2014, but in September of the same year it began its history where we all know today: in the Gracia neighborhood, 1 Santa Teresa Street. The place was created with the intention to transform into a social place, a place to enjoy reading, writing, thinking…a full-fledged community. Onna Coffee is a home to go to relax, share and enrich yourself.
Each morning, from 8:00 A.M. Monday-Friday and from 9:00 A.M. on the weekends, the Onna team opens its doors to make the café experience great with serving the best cup of coffee. They prepare filter coffees with different methods to give the public different ways to test the coffee and give rise to the “slow coffee”. They now operate in a space of 250 square meters that will shortly become a center of formation, publication and chats about coffee. The café adheres to the proposal of honest, natural food with also having gluten-free options. All of the food is prepared directly by the Onna team, except for the bread, which is delivered fresh daily from a traditional oven of the city. The lunch menu consists of vegan options, quiches, salads, sandwiches, etc.
“We interact with many people during their first hours of their day, and we want to fill them with a moment of happiness. We have a responsibility towards them. It is to offer the best of ourselves, in terms of product and also service” said Anahí.
