“¿ARCHIVO QUEER? Imagining action and pleasure. Madrid 1989-1999”
This exhibition, framed by the celebrations of World Price Madrid, presents images, publications, videos and texts that contribute to reclaiming the legacy of local LGBTQI activists and the validity of the cultural practices that emerged during the AIDS crisis in the mid-1980s. The show is divided into five themed groups according to the historical, social, affectionate, aesthetic, and emotional dimensions of the movement: Body / Memory / Politics of life and death / The radicality of language / Celebration.
To conclude the afternoon, you can head over to the Café del Rey and enjoy their Beach Club, as much to try their culinary offerings as to sip on a cocktail while relaxing on a deck chair in the middle of Madrid.

FRIDAY, July 28
“La Plaza’s Summer Inauguration”
This Thursday, July 28, marks the beginning of the summer season at Plaza Matadero. This edition is commissioned by Grupal Crew Collective, who proposed a Pilgrimage of Volts. A great recognition of the use of the streets as a playful public space and a small exercise directly to the right of the city. After a tour through the surroundings of Matadero Madrid in a pilgrimage with the idolized Sound System as the patron, the crossroads end in the Plaza Matadero with the proclamation of Sabina Urraca, which will kick off the Summer Plaza 2017. Afterward, Simpatía Latina 4 will enliven the evening with songs from yesterday, today, and forever. As a final climax to this magnificent summer night, Royal Rumba will pay tribute to the music-lovers and active party-makers in the capital.
Time: 8pm

SATURDAY, July 29
“Poetry or cruelty: Tribute to Gloria Fuertes”
As a tribute to Gloria Fuentes at the centennial of her birth, Summers at the Villa has prepared various installations in her native Lavapies neighborhood.
Among these, you can find the poetry recital collective organized by the Colectivo Masquepalabras. This encounter has become one of the most popular “poetry jams” in the city, through which already more than 300 poets have passed. Participants in this act will include Nacho Vegas, Loreto Sesma, Irene. G. Punto, Victoria Ash, and Diego Álvarez Miguel. As always, there’ll also be time for open-mike. Don’t miss out on this tribute to the poet who managed to unite and excite various generations with her heartbreaking and tender poetry.
To have dinner, you can go to Chuka Ramen Bar and enjoy some of the most exquisite and extravagant dishes, like Bao Buns, dok boki, or the galbi marrow. A Japanese version of Chinese cuisine.

“Ofelia Forever”
The ClasicOFF festival closes its fifth year at Nave 73 with “Ofelia Forever,” a drama inspired by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet that reflects on life and mental illness. “Ofelia Forever” talks about an unequal sentimental relationship, in which one member carries mental conflicts that are a barrier to developing a sane relationship. However, they both tried, time and time again, enduring physical and mental exhaustion to reach a promised love, but sometimes wanting something is not synonymous with the ability to do it.
