FRIDAY 19
Pokelolo opening
The Hawaiian plate arrived in the capital just a few years ago as a fast and alternative form to combine healthy ingredients into one plate. Because of its success, many others took advantage of the high demand and the birth of other restaurants had sprung. Pokelolo is a new local restaurant that has arrived at the Salamanca neighborhood; this is a space that elaborates poke bowls and follows the recipes of Byron Hogan, the chef of the EEUU Embassy in Spain. The menu, that is separated into two sections, is full of different Poke options such as the Atún Madness, made with red tuna, shoyu ponzu sauce, avocado, hijiki algae, tobiko, cucumber, and pickled jalapeños; there is also the Salmón Boom, with creamy siracha and shichimi, edamame, avocado, pickled red cabbage, berro, fried onion, and radish-. There is also the traditional Hawaiin poke that contains more simple recipes, distinct types of fish and no rice. All the different types of Poke are served in deep cylindrical glass containers and unlike some other poke places, Pokelolo mixes all the traditional ingredients together to be able to eat it all while avoiding being left with only rice at the bottom of your plate
