Inspired by The Grand Budapest Hotel movie by Wes Anderson, the ice cream shop Popota is the perfect place for good ice cream. At first glance through the shop window, you will see both classic and original flavors when enjoying a stroll in the neighborhood.
Painted in a yellow pastel, this is a modern yet vintage space. This is also a cozy and warm environment in which Irene greets you with a smile from ear to ear and showers you in kindness.
Irene Ravchuk and Jordi Guillem are the creators of Popota. Jordi, the ice cream man, was a two-time winner of the “World Gelato Cup” and Irene was taught in the “Carpigiani Gelato University” in Bolonia. Co-creators Jordi and Irene have put their knowledge, experience, and passion for ice cream into their own personal space.
Together they spent time traveling the world tasting ice cream. Between each of their many ice creams, they discovered that the ones they like the most were the authentic flavors that can be eaten forever to which they decided that was how their ice cream shop would be. Pure ice cream, low in sugar, creamy and above all with authentic flavors.
The name of their local shop is homage to their mascot which they got from the book “El metro y la margarita.” The magic cat in the book was the perfect name for their project, for the magic it emits and what it symbolized for them.
In Popota you will find original flavors like the gofia canario and croissant. The fruity flavors like pineapple, strawberry, mango and passion fruit are also delicious and cannot be forgotten. For the chocolate-lovers, there is a large variety of chocolate (55% cacao with a touch of Carmel, 75% cacao and chocolate with orange are only a few). Without a doubt, Popota’s star ice cream is the Mago Merlin (Merlin the Magician), which has hints of coconut, plantain and passion fruit, was awarded as the best flavor in the world.
Along with ice cream, Popota also has milkshakes, coffee, slushes, and horchata. A fun, different and tasty option is the hot dog which is made with brioche bread, with the “meat” as hazelnut ice cream, the “mustard” as mango and passion fruit sauce and the “ketchup as cherry and raspberry sauce.
Popota is the perfect ice cream shop for anyone who wants to enjoy both traditional flavors and the new and original flavored artisanal ice cream.
