A family run joint, open since 1914, run by Quim, the grandson of the actual owner, was first opened when they found a small place to sell the wines that he accumulated. The customer service and attitude of the employees is superb, and they always have a new and updated selection of wines at the best prices. Specializing in canned and jarred goods called “conservas” including but not limited to, many types of local fish such as tuna and anchovies as well as shellfish such as clams and razor clams. Besides these treats, they also serve a variety of “montaditos,” (tapas on bread), of which we recommend the caviar and red pepper, the sea urchin with fish, and the small calamari with onion. And do not forget to ask them about the wines, they are very knowledgeable. Also recommended: The “torta de casa,” (the house sandwich made with walnut), and any of their wonderful cheeses.
