Located in the district of Chamartín, specifically in Pío XII, Donde Marian is a restaurant with history. It has been open for 22 years and offers Basque-Navarra cuisine developed with a lot of heart and served with much affection.
After more than 20 years, Marian de la Peña decided to retire, leaving the restaurant in the hands of two family friends: Alfonso and Ana, who renewed the place but left the original essence: high quality raw materials to cook with, rooted from tradition and with a very experienced and helpful team.
Your menu has undergone the same renovation as the local one. Dishes such as Tolosa beans , artichokes of Navarra or hake continue in their gastronomic offer, remaining unaffected to the change of owners of the place. Along with these dishes are more “current” suggestions like steak tartar or salmon tartar.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest strengths of Donde Marian is that they know how to appreciate the value of the products , therefore , among their gastronomic proposals you will find dishes as “simple” as the natural asparagus of Tudela . Although served with two sauces, we recommend you try them without any additives to appreciate the taste of the ecological and quality asparagus from the farm, La Traílla.
One of the star dishes is the old cow chop, a plate that every visitor must indulge in at Donde Marian. It is very tender meat that is marked on the charcoal grill for an exquisite taste. A dish that will make you savor every bite and notice the long term development of flavors.
The wine list is impressive as well. References of Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Toro, Rueda or Rías Baixas fill their cellar, which is completed with an extensive Premium Whiskey menu due to Alfonso’s personal liking for this drink.
If you ask about the success of Donde Marian, its celebrated formula is due to the good work in the kitchen, because as Alfonso says “we try to feed at home.” Their dishes are not bombastic but are closer to that traditional food from a loving grandmother’s table.
