We recently visited La Taqueria 2.0, the second home of these friends Marc, Rodrigo and Hector. Well, the hay-day between Mexican Street food, standard bearers of this format of street food; then they told us about their brother from another mother, Mr. Burrito.
A gastronomic concept that is a bit far from the culinary line of La Taqueria; one that offers a modern taste of tex-mex. Although the truth is that they know how to take care of a kitchen as respected as a Mexican one, they decided two years ago to join the boat of the tex-mex offer via take-away format in Barcelona. And the truth is, they don’t do anything wrong.
These three paladins of the Mexican Street Food are added to the Tex-Mex wave of carefree, colorful and tasty character to which we are accustomed to. A proposal whose standard is the burrito, but without discrediting a millenary kitchen like a Mexican kitchen; remote origins of a style that reminds us of Mexican mother cooking.
Isle, chef and patron of Señor Burrito, welcomes us into her home with her hands in the dough. We enter this little base of Carrer Ample and first things first; nachos with cheese and beans to feed your appetite. If you accompany them with a guava margarita it is the best!
We followed the recommendations of Isle and opted-in for the star Cochinita Pibil burrito based on marinated pork, pickled onion, beans, rice, sour cream, pepper and corn. All hail Senor Burrito!
A voluminous tortilla filled with flavor that seduces us and encourages us to continue tasting the rest of the meal. Followed by, the taco brothers. Three pulled-pork barbecue tacos with cactus, your choice of veggies; and Chipotle chicken.
To close our culinary walk through, we ate refreshing ice cream with guava and tamarind. The best options to indulge in the summer is approaching. The menu offers so much more so you are able to try all the specials of this Mexican restaurant.
This is Senor Burrito, home of the Tex-Mex in take-away format. Now you have no excuse, even in your worst days you can, without getting out of bed, devour the best Mexican cuisine from your home. Right on!
