Jenna Lyons (well known impresario of the fashion world) can affirm that the secret to her success resides in the soup, because you can eat with one hand and work with the other. For the people that have more love for their work than taste for gastronomy, this is a place for you. Sopa opened its doors in September 2013. The space was designed by studio Minim and is a bright box of glass that encapsulates a bar, a small organic food store, beautiful suspended lamps, wood tables of different sizes, and colorful chairs from different locations. This eclectic place invites us to sit and work with our laptops while we have a quality coffee or Yogi tea, or a nice piece of home made cake where you will hear the likes of The Kings of Convenience or Chet Baker resonating through the speakers. Although it may be hard to tell, Sopa is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant under the guise of a health food watering hole. Their soups are cooked on low heat for three hours and made with a base of onions or leeks with an infinite variety of choices. Some of these include lentils, pumpkin and cinnamon, or carrot and ginger, served in huge bowls with bread or brown rice. They offer other seasonal plates as well like the noodles with artichokes and broccoli, lentil and millet tarts, the lentil burgers, or other specialties like the wok with rice, mushrooms, and sesame seeds. The portions are generous; we doubt you will leave hungry. However, if so inclined, we recommend that you try some of their sugar and lactose free desserts. Whatever you choose, rest assured you are eating tasty and healthy food.
