“Feeding lively minds”. This is the motto of Superchulo, a restaurant located in Malasaña that bases its philosophy on healthy cooking, but always with fun dishes that the diner will enjoy.
This restaurant, located on the famous street of Manuela Malasaña, has wanted to pay homage to Madrid. In this place the chulapos and chulapas have become superchulos and chulisima who enjoy the philosophy of the restaurant. A local that renews its menu every season and has all their dishes meet two requirements: a lot of colour, and a lot of natural flavours.
From their kitchen come dishes that invite you to travel and tour the world, usa like the neighbourhood and the streets where it’s located. At the head of the kitchen is chef Gonzalo D´Ambrosio, who has managed to bring back traditional gastronomy but in the healthiest and funnest way possible. Ingredients and natural recipes are two of the requirements they have when creating a gastronomic proposal.
Behind Superchulo are Rebecca and Cata, a couple who made it clear they wanted to open a super cool restaurant. A restaurant that followed the philosophy that helped Rebecca get out of an eating disorder and follow a healthy and balanced diet. Together they decided that the restaurant they wanted to open was to be cheerful, healthy and to create a food revolution in Madrid’s Malasaña neighbourhood.
In the menu, you will find dishes such as the Buddha Bowls, totally personalized bowls where you can choose what’s in it. But without a doubt, the star dish on the menu is the Green Baos: two steamed rolls dyed with spinach water and a delicious filling made of caramelised thempé, tzatziki sauce and crispy roasted peanuts. Their pizzas are another of the recommended dishes, as they are made with organic flours and cooked in a wood-fired oven. For the sweets, there is nothing better than the gordon´square dessert: a dessert suitable for celiacs, like much of the menu, which is made up of a wet sponge of white chocolate, red fruits, almond powder and yogurt cream.
But those who can’t eat gluten aren’t the only ones with a space here. Those who are allergic to nuts or lactose intolerant, as well as vegans, have a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
The place, as the name suggests, is super cool. A space with large windows, a view of the street and a decor full of color. There is also a cellar in the basement which is ideal for events.
Healthy cooking, colourful dishes and a positive-energy-laden atmosphere. This is the formula of Superchulo the ideal restaurant to go in Malasaña if you want to eat and have fun.
