Terre e Domus is a good option to eat in the neighborhood of Monti, close to the Roman Forum area and just opposite of Trajan’s Column. One of the most remarkable aspects of this restaurant, besides its location, is that they are very strict with the use of local ingredients. The restaurant is open all day and serves breakfast in the early hours to dinner in the evening. This restaurant has the support of the province of Rome, hence the local origin of the ingredients is more than guaranteed. Likewise, the majority of the restaurant’s staff are graduates of the School of Hotel Management of Trastevere. In addition, at Terre e Domus they collaborate with people at risk of exclusion and with the reintegration of people in prison through the Men At Work social cooperative. Furthermore, a large part of the vegetables served in the restaurant come from the organic garden of the Rebibbia prison.

Chef Marco Pasquali, whose experience includes the celebrated Osteria Iotto, leads the kitchen in Terre e Domus. The dishes vary depending on the season and the menu includes Roman classics such as the exquisite cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper) or Amatriciana pasta. Other options include cod with nuts, puntarelle, or artichokes when they are in season, or the stew of potatoes and broccoli.

Terre e Domus is a good option for snacks, as they have an excellent selection of cheese and charcuterie, as well as delicious bruschetta with different dressings. All the options defend the local products, including wines, where the menu mostly reflects the wines of small producers in the Lazio region, many of them from organically grown vineyards. In this case it is worthwhile to be recommended by the staff.

The decoration is modern, with white walls and tables that combine black and red. Lots of natural light and a wonderful window that offers spectacular views of Ancient Rome. The service is attentive and affable. Judging only from a single visit, coffee to-go is very popular at Terre e Domus. Lastly, it is worth trying their tiramisu, as it is spectacular.
