Sushi is the living testimony of the union between traditional and Japanese gastronomy. A traditional method of creation, born in Japan, with the desire to preserve fish that has become one of the most sophisticated and delicate cuisines in the world.
Synonymous with good eating, sushi is the favorite cuisine of many, especially the most refined and delicate palates. We love to enter this gastronomic ritual, to enjoy each of its variations and to be surprised by the master artisans who elaborate these Japanese delicacies.
Here we have our five favorite sushi restaurants in Barcelona. None better or worse than the others, each brings a vision of the cuisine with favorable characteristics. We invite you to try them all and enjoy a unique experience from the hand of these five Japanese temples.
Located in the district of Gracia, next to the Plaça de Vila de Gràcia, this small Japanese tavern specializing in sushi is the ideal place to enjoy a Japanese gastronomic experience.
A top culinary theater that perfectly fuses two cuisines characterized by a delicate and traditional style: Japanese and Brazilian. Both refined styles are combined into a wide variety of makis.
Since 2004, this Japanese temple has been pleasing to neighbors and curious people attracted by their way of interpreting sushi in a non-stop kitchen. That is why they are recognized among the best sushi restaurants in Barcelona.
Our favorites are two: Aburi and Greek. The first one is a shrimp tempura maki with dried tomatoes, onion, and chives. And the second with yogurt sauce, dry tomato, salmon and pistachio shavings with avocado on top.
Fabiola Lairet, executive chef and partner, opened Robata along with her husband and it became a gastronomic temple in the center of Barcelona. It is a busy place that perfectly combines tradition and influence. In the dishes we can see distinct Japanese history along with touches of native Caracas.
Robata is undoubtedly one of the most exclusive restaurants in the city where you can enjoy a gastronomic trip to Japan without leaving the table. The delicate style, well-kept decor and impeccable service help provide the maximum experience.
As the name suggests, Robata specializes in grilled cuisine. We let ourselves be surprised by one of its many interpretations and tried a roll that combines the Unicorn and the Frisky. Half sweet and half spicy. It is a half-roll of tempestuous prawn wrapped in eel and with a touch of smoked sauce; the other half incorporates bluefin tuna with loin and a spicy touch that gives it an exquisite texture.
It is without a doubt a gastronomic trip worth experiencing.
A traditional Japanese restaurant with modern vibes located in the center of the city. Along with a traditional cuisine, it has been modernized to meet your daily demands with a very economical lunch menu.
Fresh produce at a very competitive price, making it an exquisite traditional Japanese restaurant. In this case we are surprised by its so-called “salmon sandwich,” which is named after its presentation. A roll filled with spicy salmon tartar with flying fish roe.
An affordable Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy quality sushi.
As a result of a fortuitous conversation between its two partners this symbolic Japanese restaurant was born. Nakhasita, located in the emblematic district of Borne, has become a benchmark of Japanese cuisine in Barcelona thanks to exquisite service and dishes that have reached perfection.
Representative for a traditional Japanese cuisine with small touches of imagination from Marcio; But always respecting the essence of the product. The best thing to do here is to let yourself be carried away by the recommendations of their team and enjoy a special experience that will take you hand in hand to the remote lands of Japan.
Tina Bagué and Toru Morimoto, expert photographers and enthusiasts of the Japanese culture, created this emblematic place in 2012 after immersing themselves in a unique experience by the Asian country. During 2010 they embarked on a documentary photography project that led them to travel more than 42,000 km throughout Japan by motorhome. An experimental trip that encouraged them to open a Japanese teahouse that later became a tavern.
This is how Akashi Gallery was born, an authentic Japanese temple where Tina and Toru offer fresh products created in the traditional way. Its ornaments are reminiscent of the typical Japanese house, even an interior courtyard!
We chose the “Battera“, it is a sushi pressed by a mold. First the rice is placed, then marinated and flambé mackerel is put on it, and all this is pressed to get the Battera sushi. Quite the delicacy! If you have not yet tried this exquisite menu, now is the time.
