With spring emerging, the new gastronomical proposal of the revered picnic lands in Barcelona at the Little Basket. It could not come at a better date, with the caloret around the corner and the altered blood and hunger for summer; the new picnic format arrives in Barcelona.
A terminology forgotten between such apogee of table and tablecloth that is retaken by the hand of The Little Basket. A small place that could be categorized as a home, a cozy house where the format “Brunch to go” takes center stage becoming the hallmark of this place.
We open the door of this ground floor place on Comerç Street; between cushions, tablecloths and Moroccan handbags, exposed as a vintage apothecary, Jasmine welcomes us into her cozy home. A small counter where they expose their sweets, in front of an open kitchen where they create their dishes so appetizing; where the style is inherited from its gastronomic progenitor.
On the menu you can find the typical brunch with scrambled eggs and bacon or an array of healthy juices offered that is changing per season. We opted-in for this eggs Benedict with salmon, tender and delicate as we are accustomed to. To accompany our brunch, we ordered their green juice consisting of kale, cucumber, celery, apple and lemon.
While the eggs are being prepared, we enjoyed delicious nachos with cheese, avocado and cilantro. And if you like lemonade, try their grapefruit lemonade. It is, without a doubt, a perfect combination. Another masterpiece is their BLT, a kind of hamburger with bacon, lettuce and tomato served in a brioche bread that we devoured in less than four bites.
The sweet touch they have mastered is homemade pancakes with jam; the perfect way to end our experience in this nostalgic place that reminds us so much of the local sidewalk. And after the wonderful day we had here at the Little Basket, we took the Banana Bread to go to enjoy at the park. A round culinary experience that ends up stretched on the lawn of La Ciudadela.
