Walking through Universitats, we find a small showcase with the sign for Wok & Bao. A striking specific label and direct to the palate. A place to enjoy the most authentic Chinese cuisine in the heart of Barcelona.
Whether it’s an afternoon of shopping, a morning of walks or because you get lost looking for a real bread roll steam cooked, you can end up in this hidden place and devour one of its many varieties. A local that has been open for just a year, stem of the Bilbao Berria group.
A simple gastronomic bet where they perfectly portray the flavours that are characteristic of Asian cultures with Mediterranean influences. A culinary synergy reflected in a menu where you choose step by step what you want and how you want it.
At Wok & Bao, they gather a single space the two gourmet oriental perditions. On one hand, you can mount a Wok to your taste, and on the other, you can choose between the predetermined starters or Baos. Quick and healthy options made with quality ingredients that already has two other restaurants scattered through the city.
Up to nine different Baos among which you can’t miss the chicken and tikki masala sauce or the ox tail with onions and pickles. But without a doubt our downfall is its Bao-fried duck, foie gras and orange sauce. Meanwhile we can’t stop eating edamame as if they were pipes, while we prepare our favourite Wok where we use our imaginations.
We chose egg noodles with a base of fresh vegetables, prawns and peanuts accompanied by a hot Singapore sauce. Perfect Oriental treats to take away. For the sweet touch, as it couldn’t be otherwise, a Bao of chocolate and strawberries. A bomb to finish our lunch with. A fantastic proposition by the Oriental Chef Quiu Yong.
Here it’s first come first serve, so hurry up and let yourself be captivated by the Oriental sensations of Wok & Bao. Either way, taste and tradition in a street workshop.
