It all starts in a Slow Food market , where two individuals who are passionate about gastronomy and the product met. Luca Marongiu and Gonzalo Rivière are the ones who pamper every ingredient every day in Zero Patatero.
This restaurant, located in Barcelona’s El Born neighborhood, is the new offerig of Grupo San Telmo and Derby Hoteles Collection, who knew these guys from Els Garrofers in Alella, a restaurant created by Gonzalo, who invites Lucas to be his chef . Less than six months ago Zero Patatero opened its doors and since then, anyone who has visited has fallen in love.
Zero Patatero is a restaurant with a philosophy based on taking care, pampering and respecting the product and the small producer. This essence is felt from the first bread placed on the table – with wheat varieties, made with slow fermentation. This restaurant has a Mediterranean soul with local products and where everything is homemade.
A menu with very interesting dishes all designed to share, always with the essence and flavors of the area. Luca plays in the kitchen with products such as onions, sardines, the basic egg and potato, among others. The patatas bravas or bravas patateras with alioli foam; the tartare of avocado, apple, mushrooms, smoked eel with lime and basil sorbet , a very fresh dish and where no ingredient loses prominence. There is also the onion tatin with sheep cheese and sherry ice cream ; or the organic egg Òrrius, cooked at low temperature with cream of potatoes and roasted garlic, the spoon and bread will be your best companions for this dish, simply delicious.
The sardines marinated with ratafía and bacon bikini, onion and cured sheep cheese is a perfect combination of local sea and mountain. Another very special dish is the creamy rice of red prawn and Delta blue crab with shrimp – you will not be able to stop eating.
The desserts are also homemade. Nothing is better than the cookie ice cream, coffee foam, with lemon and meringue – it is sweet and delicate. The menu also offers a small assortment of wine, all of which which are ecological and delicious.
In Zero Patatero the most important thing is to be able to transmit the same message that the producers transmit to their crops and products with the same care and the same passion they try very humbly to give an added value.
